Covid has highlighted the housing crisis in Berlin and cities everywhere. It is caused by what Michael LaFond calls ‘commodification’ of housing, resulting in gentrification and rising prices which exclude people. Berlin’s co-housing movement has built homes and places that offer greater social cohesion and address directly issues such as equality of opportunity, economic need and climate change. There is a growing political imperative to support such alternatives to market-made housing.
I am committed to improving the way we plan, design, and build. I strongly believe that implementing better building systems and practices can significantly improve project outcomes with less disruption and resources, all while reducing costs. My objective is to build robust global networks and relationships, and encourage greater industry collaboration and knowledge sharing, with the ultimate goal of significantly increasing the availability of high-quality, healthier, more energy-efficient, and sustainable buildings that can stand the test of time. Join us in our global mission to make a real difference to the way we build and live.
