What’s New at JLC Live 2026?

Get an inside look at the latest innovations in home building, construction technology, and high-performance building materials straight from the show floor at JLC Live 2026 in Providence, Rhode Island.

In this episode, Matt Risinger and Steve Baczek walk through some of the most exciting new products in the industry, from hydraulic flush bifold doors and fire-rated architectural doors to Rockwool soundproof insulation demos, Schluter waterproof shower systems, and cutting-edge aluminum deck framing from TimberTech.

You’ll also learn about advanced monopoly framing techniques, exterior insulation strategies, high-performance windows from Sierra Pacific, and durable materials like copper roofing and treated LVL framing systems that are changing how builders approach longevity and performance.

Whether you’re a builder, remodeler, or serious DIYer, this video is packed with practical insights on durability, moisture management, energy efficiency, and modern construction methods to help you build better homes.

JLC Live 2026: Key Highlights from Providence

Matt Risinger and Steve Baczek made their way up to Providence, Rhode Island for JLC Live 2026, and the show delivered a great mix of innovative products worth knowing about. Here’s a rundown of the standouts from the floor.

Doors That Push the Envelope

The Eclisse booth had a showstopper: flush bifold doors operated by hydraulic actuators. Press a button in the center and the doors open right up, no electricity required, just a clean hydraulic mechanism with all the hardware tucked up top. Eles also offers a flush kit for trimless installations and, interestingly, a sound-rated pocket door assembly, which is something you don’t see every day.

Right next door, Architectural Concepts caught Matt’s attention with their molded interior doors, particularly their fire-rated options. They offer 20, 45, 60, and 90-minute rated doors that match their standard interior door styles, using an intumescent core similar to the technology behind the Arxx FirePoint product. Even better, they make STC-rated doors with ratings from 32 to 35 in a standard 1¾” thickness, with gasket and drop-down sill options to address the gap at the bottom where most sound sneaks through.

Acoustic Magic at Rockwool

The Rockwool booth had their classic sound tunnel demo. Step inside and the noise of the show floor practically vanishes. Worth noting: there’s no drywall in the tunnel, so the insulation is doing all the sound absorption.

In real-world applications drywall will reverberate somewhat, but anything passing through it gets absorbed by Rockwool’s Safe ‘n’ Sound (and even their standard wall insulation performs similarly). Their hydrophobic property was on display too, with water beading and running right off the product.

Schluter’s New Design Niche

Schluter rolled out the Design Niche, a fully metal shower niche available in 12×12, 12×24, and 48×12 sizes. The clever bit is the adjustability. Knurled knobs with built-in washers index into circular indicators, so you can dial in exactly how proud or flush you want the niche to sit relative to your tile depth.

The kit includes Kerdi-Fix and Kerdi-Band to seal the connection between the metal box and the surrounding waterproofing. As Matt pointed out, Schluter remains a systems-based company, and they offer install clinics through local reps that are worth taking advantage of.

Aluminum Deck Framing from TimberTech

TimberTech’s aluminum framing system was on display, and Jared walked through the benefits: it goes in flat on day one and stays flat at year 20, it’s non-combustible, rot-proof, and bug-proof, and the spans are impressive at about 16 feet to the beam plus a 4-foot cantilever.

The system includes integrated stair tread brackets, corner pieces, and rail post brackets with pre-drilled patterns that accept any TimberTech railing. Currently it’s only available in black, but you can fasten fascia over it if you want a different look.

InsoFast’s Bat Bracket

InsoFast introduced the Bat Bracket alongside their existing X bracket. The Batt Bracket allows for Monopoly framing with batt insulation as the continuous exterior layer, available in 3½”, 5½”, and 7¼” depths. Batts dry out faster than rigid foam thanks to better perm ratings, and the cost is roughly half that of using rigid insulation. The brackets even include little hooks for running string lines in windy conditions.

I’m really interested to see how strong these Batt Brackets are and what weight they can support. Also wind-loading under the eaves.

JNR Senior Sheet Metal

This one stopped Matt in his tracks. JNR Senior out of Massachusetts makes copper-based vents and roof accessories with options for zinc-coated or lead-coated copper finishes. Their vent pipe covers slide right over standard PVC vents, eliminating the rubber boot flashing entirely. They also distribute Prefa aluminum from Austria, which is substantially more pliable than American aluminum, flexible enough for European-style folds on standing seam roofs. Pricing runs about 15% more than standard American coil stock. Built to last 100 years.

Sierra Pacific’s Enhanced Casement and Timberlite 2.0

Sierra Pacific’s updated casement now hits 48″x96″ operable units with PG50 ratings, an integral nailing fin, and a 2¼” sash that accommodates up to 1⅜” triple glazing. All 50 colors are powder-coated after cutting, so miters and end cuts show true color rather than bare metal. The Timberlite 2.0 curtain wall system swaps glulam for LVL with a quarter-inch veneer. It’s dimensionally stable, less prone to checking, and capable of holding 2″ quad glazing. One recent project hit a 0.15 U-value with floor-to-ceiling glass.

PWT Treated LVL

Pacific Wood Technology’s chemically treated LVL is fully treated through every lamination, so there’s no need to re-treat cuts like with pressure-treated lumber. There’s no copper in the treatment either, so galvanized hangers are safe. Spans are dramatically better than PT, and every piece comes dead flat and consistently sized.

Solid show all around. And if you want to catch Matt and Steve live, Build Show Live runs September 10 through 12 in San Antonio.
