Two of the most anticipated design and building events this year are mysteriously on at the same time this year in April; BAU Munich, Germany and Salone Del Mobile Milano, Italy.
We’ll be at both events; BAU Munich from 17th to 20th April and Salone del Mobile Milano 21st to 23rd April.
Email us in advance if you’d like to meet at either of these shows to discuss any potential content that you would like us to consider for the Build Review platform.
We’ll also try and bring you all the latest news from both shows so mark the dates in your diary as we may even do some live YouTube feeds.

Some information about the two shows:
BAU Munich, Germany
BAU is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. The five main themes of BAU 2023 are:
1) Challenge of climate change
Temperatures in the atmosphere and the ocean´s are rising steadily. The main culprit, since the beginning of industrialization, is mankind, in particular through greenhouse gas emissions.
2) Digital transformation
The building sector is in the midst of a digital revolution. The shift away from analog ways of thinking and organizing towards a professional digital-based approach in decision-making and operations is producing a wide range of options.
3) Homes of the future
Quality housing that is also affordable has long been a Utopia in big cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich. The future of housing elsewhere in Germany, however, is uncertain.
4) Resources & recycling
Walls made of building rubble, insulation from old trouser material and screw connections instead of welded seams: things are happening on building sites as regards the “circular” or “closed-loop” economy.
5) Modular Building
Rents are rising, and at the same time living space is becoming increasingly scarce. But there is a promising approach to solving these challenges: serial and modular construction with industrially prefabricated components.
Salone Del Mobile Milano, Italy
The Milan Furniture Fair is a furniture fair held annually in Milan. It is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world. The exhibition showcases the latest in furniture and design from countries around the world. It is considered a leading venue for the display of new products by designers of furniture, lighting and other home furnishings. The show, also known as “Salone”, “Milano Salone” and “Milan Design Week”, is held every year, usually in April, in the FieraMilano complex in the Milan metropolitan area town of Rho.
Besides the Salone, in April every odd year the Euroluce (Luce: Lighting) exhibition takes place and every even year EuroCucina (Cucina meaning kitchens) and the International Bathroom Exhibition are held along the Milan Furniture Fair.
This year it’s Lighting, a design discipline that is often misunderstood and underutilised by many architects and interior designers alike.
